The accreditation means the NWHHS has demonstrated it meets or exceeds the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards set by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.
NWHHS Acting Chief Executive, Dr Karen Murphy, said accreditation was an essential independent evaluation of the quality of care provided to the community.
"This independent accreditation process is part of our long-term commitment to quality and patient safety," she said.
"We welcome the opportunity to receive an independent assessment of NWHHS to ensure we are delivering an exceptional level of healthcare to the North West and are thrilled with this formal recognition of our excellent service standards."
The ACHS assessment takes place every three years requiring the NWHHS to meet to the latest NSQHS standards that were released early last year.
There was controversy in March when a source told the North West Star the NWHHS failed national accreditation late last year, and a recent Australian Council of Hospital Standards review meeting earlier this month gave rise to yet further safety concerns.
At the time the NWHHS denied the allegation saying they they were still in assessment.
Now Dr Murphy says the accreditation means their systems and processes meet all eight of the new standards.
"Accreditation requires a huge level of staff involvement, not just during the process, but day-to-day to ensure the rigorous standards are met. I want to take this opportunity to thank all staff across NWHHS for their hard work and dedication to our community's health outcomes," she said.
NWHHS Board Chair Paul Woodhouse acknowledged the commitment of all staff to patient safety and quality of care.
"The Board is exceptionally proud of the level of innovation and continuous improvement that is evident across our health service," Mr Woodhouse said.
The NWHHS next full assessment will be due by April 2023.
