Mount Isa's Rugby Union president Justin Nielsen confirmed the positive news, and shedded light on the forthcoming season.
"Last seasons grand final was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but we have changed that to just postponed," Nielsen said.
"The first round of the upcoming season will see Cloncurry play Warrigals in a curtain raiser for the grand final to be played between Keas and Euros.
"The season isn't scheduled until late September early October so we are confident things will be okay by then and we can start off with a banger."
Nielsen said most of the big decisions were being made by governing bodies so they were waiting for further information.
"Our funding has taken a huge hit so we need to find some sponsorship and volunteers at our first function on July 11 to help with the running of the post Covid-19 competition," he said.
Nielsen said there were plenty of new rules for the upcoming season to ensure safety.
"We now have to maintain a record of people in attendance for the activity, for a period of at least 28 days so you have accurate records in the event of an outbreak," he said.
"Where possible, we need to avoid changing participants after games between groups so as to limit exposure and promote bring your own water bottles.
"Also set up hand washing and sanitising stations for participants to easily wash hands before and after (and during if required) their activity."
