Head trainers of Derricks Boxing, Kerry and James Derrick have used the past few months of lockdown to prepare as much as possible for their anticipated return.
Kerry said with the closure of gyms they used the time to create home training programs and search for a new gym.
"Stage three begins from July 10 which will then enable standard activity including sparring and pad work but ensuring that space is limited to one person per four square metres," Kerry said.
James said they were still unsure on when tournaments could start.
"While stage three sees a return to the ring for sparring, the question about tournaments and how they will go ahead still lingers," James said.
"For many fighters, the last fight they had was either earlier this year or late last year. Once we are able to return to the ring for sparring, it will still take boxers a number of weeks to be ready to compete."
One fighter who is desperate to return to the ring is Mount Isa's top boxer Sunny Raitava.
The World Boxing Foundation title belt holder is eager to defend his belt.
"My next fight is for another title belt and I'm keen to get into the ring and continue to be at the level I'm at, but with the recent stoppage I might need to knock a bit of rust off first," Raitava said.
Raitava's next match up is against Juarne Dowling who is a former two time Australian super middleweight champion and has fought previously against Anthony Mundine.
However this did not faze Raitava, who worded his opponents credentials as a 'typical boxing gee-up'.
"I won't be underestimating Dowling. He comes with impressive credentials but I'm more scared of returning home to my wife without a win after spending so much money to travel out of the Isa for fights," Raitava said.
Other Derrick's fighters to watch out for once tournaments resume are Kael Chong-Burns, Jaiden Menzies, Gordon Barry, and newcomer Daniel O'Keeffe.
One thing we know for sure, is that boxing will be coming back at some stage, and when it does, team Derrick will be ready.
