Cloncurry Stockman's Challenge and Campdraft were hoping to go ahead with their event on September 9-13, but have made the decision to cancel the event for 2020.
President Cheyne Williams said it was with great regret that the committee made the decision to cancel the 2020 Cloncurry Stockman's Challenge & Campdraft.
"This decision has not come easily, but I do believe it is the right one given the restrictions to run an event as large as ours," Ms Williams said.
"COVID-19 is rearing it's ugly head again and seems to be more aggressive in the southern states.
"I think we have a responsibility to our community and industry to do what we can to ensure that this virus does not spread any further."
Ms Williams said as per the new rules and regulations introduced by the Australian Stockman's Challenge Association, they would hold a Derby Challenge to allow horses that missed out this year, to compete next year.
"We look forward to running in 2021 when we can hold the Cloncurry Stockman's Challenge with all competitors able to attend."
