It is alleged that at 12.45am Wednesday, three people entered a taxi on Pamela St when a 43-year-old Pioneer man became angry after he was asked to put his seatbelt on.
Police said when the driver asked all passengers to exit the vehicle, the Pioneer man swung a bottle at the driver and after exiting the taxi, he struck the boot of the vehicle with the same bottle.
At about 2.15am, the same Pioneer man was allegedly caught driving along Camooweal St while under the influence of alcohol and without a current drivers licence.
The man was charged with attempted common assault and will appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on September 9.
The man was also later charged with driving under the influence of liquor, driving unlicensed and for the vehicle not being in a safe condition and will appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on August 26 in relation to these charges.
