Club members were sent an invite to the first patron attended race meeting last week, before tickets were opened to the general public.
When The North West Star spoke to MIRC president Mick Tully on Friday August 7, he said there were only 300 tickets available.
"The event is capped at 300 people and we will have bar and canteen facilities as well as bookmakers," Mr Tully said.
"Social distancing is a must, we are allowing a certain number of people in the members area and public bar, then there will be seating on the lawn. People will only be allowed to stand at the bar when they are getting a drink, there will be no congregating and all tables will be separated."
Mr Tully said the club had enforced a COVID safe plan, following criteria from Queensland Racing and Queensland Health.
"Tickets need to be purchased online through Eventbrite, lodging all their details on the system. Anyone who shows up on the day will be denied entry. When they arrive at the grounds there will be temperature testing and need to scan a QR code before entry," he said.
"The committee will be policing social distancing and anyone who doesn't adhere to the rules will be asked to leave."
Gates open at 11am and will close at 5.30pm, with all patrons to leave the grounds half an hour after the last race.
"There will be no hanging around after the races," Mr Tully said.
"We are excited about having people back and as long as everything goes smoothly we will continue to have patrons at our race meetings. It is up to patrons this weekend if we continue.
"We have six meetings until the Mount Isa Spring Cup which is 26th of September, a meeting every fortnight until then. Hopefully we can lift a lot of restrictions before then and have a lot of people for the Spring Cup."
