Mount Isa Council will soon enter the planning phase of the proposed pump track development at Gallipoli Park and will release a public survey to give community members a chance to have their say on the project.

Council decided to proceed with the first stage of planning, with letter-dropping fact sheets to neighbouring residents and installing signage at the Soldiers Hill park.
Cr Peta MacRae said the primary focus of the development at this stage is to install a state-of-the-art asphalt pump track on the southern end of the park.
Council was granted $895,000 for the project from the Queensland Government's Active Community Infrastructure Projects funding program last year.
"We will complement the pump track with extra structures, such as a multi-use court, physical exercise/activity zone, shade structures and extra seating, further down the line," Cr MacRae said. "We will get a better idea as to what exactly the development will include when we advance to further stages."
"The public survey will be invaluable in giving us a clearer idea as to what the community would like to see built there and what they think of the proposed pump track, which will help to shape the development and guide Council on decision making.
"We want to know what people would like for this development, so I would strongly encourage people complete the survey once it's released."
Council will also look into the possible inclusion of public toilets and a large shade structure over the multi-use court, but these have yet to be confirmed.
