Castillo is a base metal explorer primarily focused on copper in Australia and Zambia and have taken up Mt Oxide, near the historical mine of that name, 150km from Mount Isa.
A week ago they announced they had identified a prominent shear zone, surface outcrop and visible copper mineralisation.
On Wednesday they told the ASX their geology team had pegged 35 drill-sites at the Big One Deposit, within the Mt Oxide Pillar, in readiness for an upcomin drilling campaign.
"In addition, the team found visual evidence of supergene and massive sulphide mineralisation at surface, and potential linkages lending credence that the Big One Deposit could potentially be part of a larger iron oxide, copper, gold mineralised system," the company said in a statement.
They have collected 24 rock chip samples from stockpiles and historic pit workings for follow up analysis which visually confirmed the presence of supergene oxide (malachite) and massive sulphide (chalcocite) mineralisation at the surface.
Castillo they had completed the access track to the Big One Deposit while all necessary government regulatory approvals had now been secured and they had appointed a drilling contractor following an extensive tender process which narrowed the field down to two short-listed candidates, though they did not name the contractor.
Simon Paull, Managing Director of Castillo Copper, said they were now clearly across logistics and regulatory approvals.
"Importantly, we are now fully prepared to move forward with our planned drilling campaign at the Big One Deposit," Mr Paull said.
"Moreover, the fresh geological insights the field team observed at site is extremely encouraging, especially finding high-grade supergene and massive sulphide mineralisation at surface."
