While traditionally QRSW has meant state-wide enforcement operations and locally driven engagement opportunities, the Queensland Police Service and Transport and Main Roads are committed to operating within the confines of the COVID-19 environment and alignment with current public health directives.

In line with that, the theme of QRSW 2020 is Sign up for Road Safety and is about encouraging members of the community to put a sign up for road safety.

Get involved with the Sign up for road safety initiative - create a sign, put it up at your home, at your school, or at your business and take a photo of the sign to upload to the StreetSmarts website where it will form part of a gallery.

On average 58 people are killed and 295 seriously injured each year on Queensland roads as a result of speed related crashes.

Around half of all serious speeding crashes happen at less than 10km/h above the speed limit.

It is illegal to hold your phone in your hand to text, talk, receive a call or perform any other function while driving or riding, even when you're stopped at traffic lights.

This includes holding the phone up to, or near your ear.
