Road Safety Week was last week and officers from across the huge western district were out delivering important road safety messages to local communities.
In Birdsville, local dangerous good suppliers and police attended a Transport and Main Roads workshop/information session on transporting dangerous goods organised by QGAP (Queensland Government Agent Program).
Police said they would pass on information to locals and property owners to ensure compliance and safety on the road.
Officers also visited schools to educate children about road safety.
Colouring-in Competitions were a hit, making it a fun way for them to learn about traffic signals and road signs.
Mount Isa School Students participated in a colouring-in competition displayed along the wall of the Mount Isa Village Shopping Centre - winners will be notified this week and awarded prizes by Police Liaison Officer George.
Students at Spinifex State College were visited by police who put students through activities to highlight the impacts of alcohol and fatigue when driving, as well has showing them road side breath test equipment.
