Samuel (Sammy) Voss was diagnosed with Batten's Disease at the age of four; an incurable neurological disease that primarily affects the nervous system.

Throughout the month of August, Mount Isa Florist owner Toots Tutera donated a percentage of all sales to the Voss family to assist with the expense of travelling to Brisbane every second week for treatment.

She handed over the cheque to the Voss family on Tuesday September 1.

"I think there is a lot of support out in the community for the Voss family and what they are going through," Ms Tutera said.

"The support from community was amazing, we had customers purchasing flowers every week to put money towards this worthwhile cause.

"Some locals just walked in and dropped cash and change into the donation tins, it was great."

Sammy's dad, Brendan Voss, said they were grateful for the support Mount Isa had given them.

"We are so lucky to be in this community, it is amazing," Mr Voss said

"We were both born and bred here in Mount Isa and we cannot say thank you enough to everyone."

Mr Voss said Sammy's current condition was stable.

"We do have days where it is a bit hit and miss, but he is stable which is the main thing," he said.

"He is a little bit worse then last year but sadly it is the nature of the disease."
