Advance Foot Clinic is a podiatry practice operating in Mount Isa and Brisbane's northern and western suburbs; owned by former Mount Isa local Angela Holland.
The Mount Isa clinic is operated by podiatrist Cherize Vorster, and services sports injuries, gait analysis, orthotics, footwear advice, nail surgeries, diabetics, arthritic disorders, corns and warts.
Ms Holland said the pandemic affected her business greatly with client numbers dropping significantly.
"We saw a 40 percent decrease in appointments in Mount Isa and up to a 47 per cent decrease in the Brisbane practices," she said.
"We do treat a large number of the population who are more at risk of coronavirus, whether it is diabetics, the elderly or immune compromised, we see a lot of them compared to other professions.
"There was a lot of fear about going into the community during the pandemic to attend appointments. We had patients across the business cancelling appointments - they were quite frightened."
Ms Holland said her staff numbers were also affected daily.
"Our Brisbane offices were more affected then the Mount Isa office," she said.
"We had staff off sick every one to two days because if they had a head cold they did the right thing and stayed home and couldn't return to work until they had a COVID-19 test."
Podiatrist Ms Vorster said Queensland did a good job of reducing the cases which allowed Advance Foot Clinic to resume practice with procedures to mitigate risk.
"We try to to keep the patient numbers inside the clinic as little as possible so there is very little contact between people coming and going," Ms Vorster said.
"We are sanitising and cleaning all surfaces between visits and staff are taking full safety measures with masks and PPE when we are seeing patients.
"I think everyone appreciates it. I mean it is a medical practice and something we implement on our own anyway, but we want our customers to have peace of mind coming here."
After lockdown, Advance Foot Clinic relocated its office to 2/24 Miles Street in the CBD.
"The decision behind why we decided to make the move was due to the lease ending," Ms Holland said.
"The former office had serviced its purpose, it was a clinic but it was also able to house FIFO staff, but the staff we have here now are permanently residing in Mount Isa therefore we no longer require that building."
Ms Vorster said the move had worked well.
"Since the first week we started here we have received more foot traffic and people coming into the shop," she said.
"A lot of people who have been living in Mount Isa for years didn't know there was a private podiatrist in town."
