Mayor Danielle Slade said she was leaving Mount Isa with her young family to commence the next chapter of her career in Brisbane.
"Mrs Ibardolaza has served the local Mount Isa community for over 12 years in a number of integral positions, including CEO for over three years," Cr Slade said.
In a statement Council said that along with her extensive knowledge of local government, during her time with Council Ms Ibardolaza has made substantial achievements including: embarking on organisational transformational change to improve transparency, accountability and a safer work environment for all employees, advocating for Mount Isa residents on Waste Levy impacts, costs of airfares, and the North West Strategic Blueprint; delivering the Isa Street Bridge, Complaints Management Process, upgrade of the Riversleigh Fossil Discovery Centre, and a formal Community Consultation Policy; and she led Council's COVID-19 Response Group.
Council will consider the recruitment process for a new CEO at its next Ordinary Meeting, together with interim arrangements pending the appointment of the new CEO.
"On behalf of the Councillors and employees of Mount Isa City Council, we wish Sharon every success in the future," Council said in a statement.
