The festival goes from September 18 to 26 and festival passes are on sale now.
The opening night film has a strong Outback influence with the movie Slim and I telling the story of country music legend Slim Dusty and his wife Joy McKean in a 50 year partnership.
This is the seventh year of the festival and it had to be moved back from its usual end June timeframe due to COVID-19.
The 2020 vision splendid film festival is operating under the industry-standard COVID plan with its own COVID safe event checklist.
Spread across a nine-day program, festivalgoers will immerse in the unique outback experience, with outdoor screenings in Winton's 102-year-old Royal Open Cinema, along with masterclasses, workshops and live entertainment.
The 2020 theme 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' celebrates Australia's love affair with travel, adventure and blue skies, showcasing the nation's pioneering spirit in films.
Inspired by the Sundance Film Festival, Vision Splendid is the world's largest film festival dedicated to Australian film and has proven a magnet for cinema-loving locals and adventure-seeking tourists who relish the chance to watch the country's best films under the stars.
