The QRRRWN Strong Women Leadership Awards program recognises rural, regional and remote women who make a huge contribution to their community
Founder of Sisters of the North Susan Dowling has been nominated in the major category of QRRRWN Woman of the Year while fellow Cloncurry woman and grazier Jacqueline Curley has been nominated in the QRRRWN Influential Leader of the Year category.
Both women rose to prominence during last year's floods with Ms Dowling's Sisters of the North using innovative ways of getting business back on its feet, while Ms Curley's photos of the devastation received wide acclaim.
Davida Melksham, Board Lead Strong Women Leadership Program thanked all nominating women who took up the challenge to notice and celebrate the excellent and important work done by RRR women.
Award finalists will be announced October 15 at QRRRWN International Rural Women's Day Events with winners announced December 5 at QRRRWN's International Volunteer Day Event.
In 2019 a local woman took out one of the QRRRWN awards.
Officer in Charge of Mount Isa police station Senior Sergeant Renee Hanrahan won the 2019 Influential Leader of The Year.
