Mayor Danielle Slade has announced that David Keenan has been appointed Council's Interim CEO following a Special Meeting of Council held on Wednesday afternoon.
"David Keenan is an experienced and influential executive with more than 25 years working within local government, most recently, David was CEO at Southern Downs Regional Council between January 2015 and June 2020," Cr Slade said.
"David has a strong background in planning, economic development, sustainability, corporate planning, policy development and continuous improvement. David is a very calm and considered professional who knows local government well, so will be a great addition to our team during this period of change."
Mr Keenan will join MICC on Monday, September 28 which will allow for handover from outgoing CEO Sharon Ibardolaza before she leaves on October 9.
"Sharon is a long-serving employee of Council and will have a busy couple of weeks handing over a wealth of corporate knowledge she has acquired over many years," Cr Slade said.
"As Interim CEO, David will lead our organisation for the next five to six months while Council undertakes a recruitment process for our next CEO."
Advertising for the full time position begins next month.
