I will be providing information in this article comparing movement in development during the corresponding quarters of the previous financial year and current year.
Understandably 2020 has been a quiet year, but overall development in Mount Isa has been steady in the last quarter of this financial year.
Council has received a total of 28 Notice of Engagements, with 20 Building Approvals issued by private building certifiers.
Compared to the previous quarter (Q3 2019/2020), there has been an increase of nine Building Approvals. Compared to the same quarter last year (Q4 2018/2019), there is a decrease 57. Of the 20 Building Approvals, there were 30 structures for which building permits were issued.
The total value of building works approved for the Mount Isa Local Government area for the quarter was $3.85 million, which is a decrease of $6.56 million compared to the same quarter last financial year.
Council received a total of 95 property search requests for the quarter, which is an increase of 59 over the last quarter and an increase of 35 for the same time last year.
Of the 95 requests, 87 were for residential properties and eight were for commercial properties.
These figures are positive in the fact that there is interest in the Mount Isa area.

A reminder that Remembrance Day will be Wednesday the 11th of November. Council will be holding a ceremony on the front lawn of the Civic Centre from 11am.
This will be a socially distanced event that will meet COVID Safe requirements. It is likely to be a very hot day so please bring a hat and a bottle of water with you.
There will also be bottles of chilled water available on the day. We encourage our community to attend and commemorate Remembrance Day.
