"Due to receiving no nominations before the last submissions close date we have had to extend our AGM," the festival said in a statement.
"If we do not receive nominations again or we do not have a committee for the new year the event will be over."
The festival said 2021 would be the 27th year of the Dirt n Dust Festival and the list of achievements from present and past committee is endless.
"From humble beginnings involving the grassroots and passion of our community to now having a 'Home of The Dirt n Dust' with the Julia Creek Community Precinct - we are in the best position we've ever been to hold a valuable and truly great event that brings people from far and wide to our beautiful town," they said.
"This is your community event and it's time for you to refresh and reignite the spark."
An event management company has been employed to complete the operational tasks and take weight off of the committee in the interim.
The AGM will be on at 6pm Thursday October 29 at the Julia Creek Community Precinct, followed by a barbecue and beers,
