On Friday October 9, the Cloncurry Cup race meeting will be broadcast across Sky Racing channels Australia wide, putting Outback Queensland on display.
Cloncurry and District Race Club president Luke Daniels said it was a significant moment for Cloncurry racing.
"This is something we have been working towards for a while. I think it is an opportunity to showcase our club and region, and be recognised as a place to have high quality level racing," Mr Daniels said.
"Anyone in a pub, club or licensed venue can be watching Cloncurry horse races on Friday afternoon."
With six races currently listed for Friday, Mr Daniels hoped this could become a regular TAB event for Cloncurry.
"It would be great to have an event like this regularly. Racing Queensland seem keen to broadcast some more racing from the bush, I think it is a stepping stone to build on this opportunity," he said.
"An event like this really highlights regional Australia, I think at the moment people are looking for things to do in their own backyard and we want them to consider coming to Cloncurry.
"If we can build on this event, why can't we have a couple of listed races or group 3s if the area is showing signs of growth."
Cloncurry Shire Council mayor Greg Campbell said the significance of Cloncurry's first TAB race meeting showed the dedication of the committee.
"The fact that we are being recognised to host this TAB meeting shows how much effort the committee put in, the high quality of our facilities and what potential of great racing there can be," Cr Campbell said.
"It also reiterates the strength of our region, Cloncurry committee has had extra meetings and phantom meetings to make sure the industry stays strong. Hopefully we can grow that and get some more trainers here, the facilities are second to none in the bush and it's a great industry to be involved in."
Gates for the Cloncurry Cup will open at noon, with the first race to commence around 12.45pm.
Bar, canteen fashions on the field and light entertainment will also be at the event.
