Cloncurry Shire Council invested $30,000 across five local businesses in 2019 to help improve the street appeal of town, with works recently completed.
The Central Hotel, Lemmons Store, Erika's Hair Studio, Cloncurry 4WD Services and the Rodeo Saddle Shop shared in the grant, but were required to match the grant amount to be eligible.
Cloncurry Shire Council Mayor Greg Campbell said it gave businesses the opportunity to conduct beautification works on their facade.
"It offered a chance to tidy up their shop fronts," Cr Campbell said.
"The work was being done during lock down. When a lot of towns were stopping work, Cloncurry was busy. Council was replacing footpaths, that's when the Central Hotel did all their work to the front of their premises.
"Some jobs actually got delayed a little bit because there was so much work for carpenters. It may not have been a lot of money but we were able to make the CBD more appealing."
Cr Campbell said the project was well received that Council had increased it this year to $50,000.
"The foot print will be expanded a little bit this time to allow all our businesses to apply," Cr Campbell said.
"It's about building that image, making the town proud of itself and giving the tourists travelling through a reason to stop and spend money in town.
"Beautification works is twofold. It's about making it nice for us who live here all the time but also the more people we'll attract to town whether it be tourists or new families to live and work here.
"We do live in a pretty hot climate we don't need to extenuate that by it looking like a desert."
