Isa Rodeo Chief Executive Officer Natalie Flecker said she was grateful that two of the entrants who were forced to put their 2020 fundraising on hold due to the pandemic, would continue in the quest for 2021.
Ms Flecker said Kelly-Maree Jones would be raising funds for LifeFlight; and Krystle Chong for the Mount Isa Basketball Association; while unfortunately Maddie Gray (Mount Isa & North West Qld Breast Cancer Support Group Inc) has had to withdraw for next year.
"It was disappointing for everyone involved that we couldn't hold our physical rodeo this year but we are thrilled that two of our 2020 entrants are able to roll into the 2021 quest. Thank you also to Maddie for her efforts and interest, and to our wonderful coordinator Sharnee Lloyd.
"We would love to hear from anyone who is interested in raising much needed funds for the community through the 2021 Isa Rodeo Queen Quest," she said.
"You can contact the Isa Rodeo office on (07) 4743 2706."
Mount Isa-born Kelly-Maree (known as Kelly) is a mum of four children and loves outdoor activities including fishing and camping with family and friends.
"I am looking forward to putting 100 per cent effort into my fundraising," said Kelly.
Also Mount Isa born and bred, Krystle Chong has a strong love for community sports, hence her choice to raise funds for Mount Isa Basketball Association. A mum of three daughters, Krystle enjoys family barbecues, camping, being with family and friends and 4WD driving.
"I love to play basketball, helping out in the community and the spirit and friendliness of Mount Isa which keeps me living here," said Krystle.
Ms Flecker said the Queen Quest was an important part of the Isa Rodeo.
"The quest has a long and proud history which has seen many local women, and a couple of local men put in extraordinary effort over many years to raise much needed funds for local charities and community organisations," she said.
"We hope that all our entrants and their support teams enjoy the fundraising challenge they have committed to, and hope they have a wonderful year."
The 2021 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo will be held from 12-15 August.
