Up against Panthers the team that had snatched the 40-over premiership from them in 2017 and 2018, the Black Stars skittled them quickly in this opening T20 game before easily reaching the target without the loss of a single wicket.
Panthers won the toss and batted first, in this modified T20-only format season.
It was a choice they probably regretted as they were bowled out for 137 in just 18 overs in the heat of the early afternoon.
Several Panthers batsmen made starts but none were able to go on with it.

Opener A. Brown made 23, B Ryan made 24 and C. Zapalla top scored with 33.
Best of the bowlers were T Radford (2-16) Nadish (2-26) and Sara (2-40).
Baker and Conlan also chipped in with a wicket each.
Needing 138 to win A. Cullis and A. Bateman made light work of the chase.
Cullis found the fence 11 times on his way to 64 not out while Bateman went one better smashing 12 boundaries in his 60 not out.
It meant they made it easily to the required target in 15 overs giving the rest of their batsmen the afternoon off.
Black Stars won by 10 wickets.
In the earlier game Cavaliers were too good for the Western Bulls.
Winning the toss they went into bat, and made a big total despite losing the early wicket of Sam Peters for 21.
His fellow opener Sam Denley was the hero of the day smashing his way to a man-of-the-match total of 78 runs.
He scored 10 boundaries and five whopping sixes including three sixes on consecutive balls spread across two overs.
Riaan made 14 while Corey Moon made 29 before being bowled by Adrian,
They finished on 185 for the loss of five wickets..
C Jones, Adrian, Melwin and Patrick got one wicket apiece for the Bulls.
The Western Bulls fell short in the run chase to give Cavs and the Black Stars the points on the opening day.
This weekend it is Round 2 with Western Bulls v Black Stars at 10am in the morning game.
That will be followed by Cavaliers versus Panthers at 2pm.
Both games will be played at Captain Cook Oval.
