Mining company Sandvik has announced partnerships with two Mount Isa organisations focused on providing safe and supportive environments for local young people, PCYC and Young People Ahead.

Sandvik will contribute funding towards PCYC's Youth Management Team, the TEAM Up program and the Friday Night Lights program.
Each program focuses on building social skills, assisting with community events, and keeping local youths engaged in a safe environment.
Sgt Bernadette Strow, Branch Manager at PCYC Mount Isa said the sponsorship wouls develop PCYC's capacity to address socially disadvantaged youth through targeted programs.
"PCYC Queensland is committed to addressing whole of community needs, positively impacting young people's lives and encouraging social cohesion through inclusion programs," Sgt Strow said.
"Our youth development, crime prevention and community engagement programs underpin all that PCYC achieves."
Funding will also be provided to YPA to assist with their newly established Learner Driver Program which will support young people and adults to learn to drive and complete their logbook hours.
Sandvik will assist to provide a car for learner drivers practice their driving, plus contribute to maintenance and fuel costs.
Alvin Hava, General Manager of Young People Ahead, said Learner Driver Program supported locals to achieve independence through getting their licenses and open up opportunities to secure meaningful employment outcomes.
"The partnership with Sandvik and Delta Office will have so much position flow on effects to the community and especially individuals looking to strengthen their independence and secure jobs," Mr Hava said.
Luana Sanders, Sandvik Community Engagement Officer said they gave back to the communities where employees live and work by supporting the volunteer, fundraising and environmental sustainability efforts.
