The session will be held at 6pm at the Redearth Hotel Ballroom on West Street.
Council Environmental Health staff will be joined by Biodiversity Australia, the environmental consultants Council engaged to help develop its Little Red Flying Fox Management Plan.
Staff will also be able to answer frequently asked questions about little red flying foxes, including what Council may be able to do to lessen the impact they have on residents.
Council has plans to establish an alternative roosting site for the flying foxes on a section of Council-owned land between the Sewage Treatment Plant and the northern end of Commercial Road, on the city's north-eastern outskirts.
The project is budgeted at $600,000, comprising a $100,000 grant from the State Department of Environment and Science and $500,000 from Council's Environmental Charge Fund.
The proposed relocation site for the flying-fox colony is further away from residential areas and horse paddocks than their usual roosting site within the Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, numbers for the community consultation session are limited.
Those who are interested in attending are being urged to register their details at www.mountisa.qld.gov.au/community-engagement
