Spinifex State College have celebrated student success at a Special Awards ceremony at the Buchanan Park Entertainment Complex.

The two most prestigious awards on the night were awarded to, Year 12 graduate Charlotte Leech who won the Hon. Tony McGrady Senior Dux after being recognised in six other award categories during the evening. Mr McGrady was in attendance and presented this award to her.
Year 9 student Kaitlin Cummings, was the winner of the Mount Isa Mines Junior Dux. Miss Cummings held the best academic results for the year. Her award was presented by Mr Clint Milner, Group Manager Human Resources, Glencore Queensland Metals.
Many other Special Awards were presented on the night. These included:
- Caltex Senior Best All Rounder Award was presented to Charlotte Leech (Yr 12).
- Westpac Junior Best All Rounder Award recipient was Trinity Eussen (Yr 9).
- Kathleen Farrelly (Yr 10) and Tyson Hales (Yr 12) were recipients of the ADF Future Innovators Awards.
- The ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards were presented to Kyle Bartolo (Yr 10) and Charlotte Leech (Y2 12).
- JCU Academic Encouragement Awards were presented to Jasinta and Zaden Mills (both Yr 10).
- Charlotte Leech (Yr 12) accepted the Diane Willis Memorial Bursary.
- The QATSIF Young Indigenous Leadership Award was presented to Seleena Blackley (Yr 12)
- Muthu Palaniappan (Yr 11) was named as the QMEA Ambassador for 2021.
- TAFE Queensland Student of the Year Awards were presented to Harmony McGlinchey (Yr 12) and William Restall (Yr 11).
- The School Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year was awarded to Frank Moro (Yr 12).
- The Work Experience Student of the Year Award went to Ronan Hammond (Yr 12).
- The Residential Student of the Year Award was presented to both Emma Darcy and Luke Darcy (both Year 12).
- Trinity Eussen (Yr 9) and Seleena Blackley (Yr 12) were presented the Award for Excellence in the Arts.
- The Jan Truss Awards for Excellence in English went to Kaitlin Cummings (Yr 9) and Stacey Stringer (Yr 12).
- Awards for Excellence in Mathematics went to Nathaniel Wright (Yr 9) and Tyson Hales (yr 12).
- Kaitlin Cummings (Yr 9) and Charlotte Leech (Yr 12) were awarded the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Awards.
