As COVID-19 restrictions ease and Australians return to the workplace, business operators and employees are being encouraged to monitor the mental health of colleagues.
The Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance has launched a series of resources to help them do just that.
The Alliance, a group of 15 organisations from business, union, community, government and mental health sectors, has created free information to help business operators and staff recognise the signs that someone might be struggling.
"We know that people thrive in workplaces where they feel safe and supported," said Alliance chair Lucy Brogden AM.
"Investing in mental health can make your workplace healthier, safer and more productive."
Tips on how to have a positive, helpful conversation about mental health and create a culture of trust and openness in the workplace are also included.
Three separate packs have been developed for sole traders, small businesses, and medium to large businesses.
"Making workplaces mentally safe is equal to making workplaces physically safe," Ms Brogden said.
The resources are available for download on the The National Mental Health Commission website.
