The 21-year-old was crowned Rookie of the Year at the Townsville Entertainment Centre on November 20-21 for his outstanding performance on the Professional Bull Riders circuit in 2020.
Curr attended 16 professional events throughout the year, riding 13 of 29 bulls and finishing fifth overall on the national leader board.
He said the Rookie title was something he had been striving towards all year.
"I was really happy claiming the title, it was something I set out to do from the start of the year, so to achieve that goal was pretty good," he said.
"I finished fifth overall but I was third heading into the finals. I didn't have much luck at the finals only riding one and was bucked off everything else."
While Curr didn't have the greatest of rides at the grand final in Townsville, he had an outstanding victory weeks before in Beaudesert where he had a flawless 2-for-2 performance to capture his career-first PBR event win.
Curr's first win among the PBR ranks earned him $2,405.40, in addition to a critical 68.5 national points.
"It was an awesome win. I had all my family down there for my 21st birthday, so I couldn't have asked for a better time," he said.
"I had a slow start to the season and the first couple of events I was a bit sore because I hadn't been getting on a lot of bulls, but after the first couple of weekends I settled in and felt a lot better.
"It has been a very busy year attending all the PBR events, it was a pretty good year."
Curr is now looking ahead to the 2021 season and has his eyes on an even bigger prize.
"The next step for me now is to go for the Australian title next year," he said.
"I definitely think this is something I am capable to achieve. I think I've gained a lot more confidence this season and the belief in myself. I think I can take it on next year."
To claim the national championship Curr will have to outrank some of the best Australian bull riders, including Aaron Kleier who just won his third-consecutive national PBR Championship.
