The Rural Fire Service are on route to control a bush fire burning 40 kilometres east of Mount Isa, that was sparked by an electrical storm on Friday night, November 27.
The blaze was reported to the Rural Fire Brigade early Saturday morning by landholders, but due to its remoteness was not accessible to fire crews.
However in the last 24 hours the fire has tracked north towards the Barkly Highway raising caution for motorists.
The Rural Fire Service is expected to contain the fire as it reaches a more accessible spot near the highway.
More information to come.
