The Mount Isa Harley Owners Group held their annual Christmas Toy Run on Saturday November 28, raising money and collecting toys for sick kids at the North Queensland Ronald McDonald Charity House in Townsville.
Mount Isa HOGs event organiser Tony Maloney said 41 motorcycles took part in the event generating a large amount of donated toys and $3500.
"It was a really good response from the community, and we would like to thank everyone who donated and also those who came to be a part of the event," Mr Maloney said.
"The reaction from the community as we were driving around was great. When we were picking up toys from a registered house, we had more people come over to us from other houses and donate toys.
"When everyone heard the bikes they all come racing out the front of their houses and waved at us. I just think everyone who joins in and rides the bikes also get the joy and excitement out of the kids faces."
Mr Maloney said this was a charitable, annual event that the HOGs conducted each year for a different local charity.
"The money and toys donated will go to the North Queensland Ronald McDonald Charity House in Townsville. The toys will be delivers in the next few weeks before Christmas where the house will sort them out into ages and give to kids in need," he said.
"Without a doubt there will be some kids in there at Christmas time, but if the gifts are not all given out they may be put aside to help celebrate kids birthdays in the hospital as well.
"It will be wonderful for the kids and staff knowing they have some toys there to make these kids and families lives a little bit easier."
Mr Maloney said the club members all enjoyed participating in the event, which kept them coming back each year.
"We are a social motorcycle riding club, we do raise money and like to only support charities that help our local community.
"Most of us enjoy doing this event each year and the toy run really hits home that Christmas time can be a hard and difficult time, and we are fortunate enough that we can make lives a little bit easier at Christmas time."
