Students spent two full days visiting the Central Queensland University (CQU) and James Cook University (JCU) campuses.
Students participated in a general session at CQU as well as then choosing to attend one of the academic sessions on offer - Nursing or Psychology/Criminology.
JCU sessions included visiting a number of faculties including: Turtle Research and Veterinary facility; Science and Engineering; Arts, Society and Education; Business, Law and Governance; Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy The Village (UniLodge) located on the JCU Campus housed and catered for students and staff.
Staying at this accommodation allowed students to get a real feel for living on campus and a perspective on living in a single room, with ensuite, shared common areas and set meal times.
Deputy Principal, Mrs Carla Patch said, "She was proud of how the students represented themselves and the school whilst away and that the students have gained valuable knowledge from this program."
Principal, Mr Phil Sweeney said, "The delivery of our University Visit to the Year 10 cohort has been made possible thanks to Glencore's Mount Isa Mines and their continued sponsorship."
"The contribution received from Mount Isa Mines allows us to deliver this program to our students at an affordable cost to parents", said Mr Sweeney.
