The committee, chaired by former mayor Ron McCullough, will comprise sitting Councillors, two residents, two representatives of community organisations and two representatives from local businesses, plus Council staff and a Queensland Government representative.
Advisory committee members will need to attend meetings, prepare and present reports requested by the chair, assist with strategy and policy development, promote discussion within the community and source feedback and support 100 Years events through attendance and volunteer work.
Mayor Danielle Slade said there are plans for a year of centenary events and commemorations throughout 2023 and has suggested a visit by a member of the Royal Family.
"The advisory committee will assist Council, by providing guidance, advice and information about funding opportunities, infrastructure and events that will complement this momentous celebratory occasion for our community," Cr Slade said.
"We are hoping to have a diverse range of viewpoints and experience for the committee, so I encourage people to submit their expression of interest to be considered for membership.
Cr Slade said people should remember this committee would represent a commitment of at least a couple of years.
"Once we have the advisory committee up and running, we will be looking to support separate committees, community groups and organisations who want to be involved in events that year," she said.
