The opportunity came when Healy State School decided to upgrade its play equipment leaving an old playground surplus to their requirements.
The school offered the playground to the rugby clubs who eagerly accepted the invitation.
The only issue was that manpower was needed to remove the playground from the school and set it up again at the rugby grounds.
MIRU put out the call for a team of volunteers who showed up last weekend to do the good deed.
The first job on Saturday was to dismantle the playground from the Healy school site.
Then they brought it all over to Alma St and using drills and shovels, set it up again with a free barbecue and soft drink on offer to all volunteers.
The playground is now in place for the second half of the 2020-2021 season.
On its Facebook page the Mount Isa Rugby Union Committee thanked everyone that made an appearance or assisted in the big task.
"All the boys - and Vanya slugged it out in the heat and finally we were able to relocate the playground to its new location," MIRU said.
"We are so very grateful for the many hands that made it possible today."
