Council said there were so many important people who contribute to making the Flinders Shire a wonderful place to live and these awards give them a great opportunity to acknowledge these special people.
Held at the Diggers Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, the council announced winners across five different categories.
The winners were:
Sarus Crane Award - Trevor Pugh
Local Hero Award - Kerry Davison
Community Volunteer Award - Sara Haydon
Junior Citizen of the Year - Danielle Sladden
Citizen of the Year - Mick Fletcher
Celebrity gardener Ross McKinnon was Australia Day ambassador on the day.
Council also held a citizenship ceremony and an afternoon of fun activities at the Hughenden Recreational Lake.
