Superhero strength, speed and agility will be on display this weekend as teams take to the field for the Superhero 7s rugby competition.

Mount Isa Rugby Union will recommence the 2021 season with a Superhero 7s competition on Saturday February 6, with six teams dressing up for the family fun day.
MIRU president Justin Nielsen MIRU said the 7s competitions was a great way to welcome back players and spectators after the Christmas break.
"This is a warm up round before the typical season recommences, welcoming back players to rugby with a bit of fun before returning to our traditional season the following week," Mr Nielsen said.
"Rugby 7s are always fun, fast and open, but all the lads with their superhero jerseys gives the day a good vibe.
"This is our second annual Superhero 7s rugby round and it is the most fun we have at rugby all year."
MIRU secretary Jason Newell said this year's outfits were built off the back of last year's inaugural event.
"The outfits are really amazing this year," Mr Newell said.
"Last year it was pretty goof and this year we have doubled the expectations of what the kits would look like.
"We have these great sponsors who have stepped up and each sponsored a superhero team for the event."
Mr Nielsen said the family fun day was also a fundraiser to support a local family who was struck by a tragic accident earlier this year.
"The committee and some players sat down and decided we are going to support the Green family, who recently lost their father/husband, Jarrad, in a tragic accident earlier this year," Mr Nielsen said.
"Some of the raffles and a portion of the gate admission will go back to support the family.
"Jarrad didn't play rugby but I know a lot of the boys probably knew the Green family, and our family day was a good opportunity to give back to the community.
"So we encourage everyone to come down and support the cause, while also enjoying the jumping castle, activities and Superhero 7s."
Gates open at the Alma Street rugby grounds at 5pm, with kick off at 6pm. Standard gate admission includes $5 for adults and under 18s are free.
