Started in 2016 as a way of connecting the community and organisations the expo has grown from strength to strength and a full car park at the Entertainment Centre at Buchanan Park was testament to its popularity as the centre was teeming with groups looking for members and the community looking for something to get involved with.
Event emcee and deputy mayor Phil Barwick said he got a real buzz from the event.
"We got over 60 stalls here today, the majority are sports but there are also community groups, there are recreational groups and they all really help the liveability in Mount Isa," Cr Barwick said.
"I think people hang out for this over the Christmas holiday period, with the new season starting and what a better way to start it than a gathering like this of all the sports for people to have a look at them."
Cr Barwick said families in Mount Isa often were involved in two or three sports and nowhere was far from anywhere else in town.
"As long as they have the facilities and the wherewithal they'll do well," he said.
"It is interesting to see groups like the restored car club here and the bowmen as well, because those are the clubs that add a bit of flavour to the city, as well as the usual range of football, basketball and netball here."
