The video was released on Monday, February 8 and showcases beautiful and exciting shots of the Mount Isa region including lifestyle, fun, sport and recreation.
Mount Isa City Council councillor Peta MacRae, whos portfolio includes tourism, events, sports and recreation, said this was the second year of the City of Opportunity campaign however this year it took a different approach.
"Last year it was a bit more focused towards tourism because we had our events in 2019 and no one predicted the pandemic would shut everything down," Cr MacRae said.
"With the events not happening in 2020 we didn't have the same footage from those events, so we decided to take the angle of livability and all the great things you can do in Mount Isa when you live here.
"Like eating out at the restaurants, going to the parks, looking at the attractions; including the upgraded Riversleigh Fossil Centre which didn't feature in last year's film as it was not complete, so we were excited to show that this year."
The new video features footage of the recently-renovated Riversleigh Fossil Centre at Outback at Isa, as well as Lake Moondarra, local sporting clubs, local Indigenous sisters and artists Cungelella Art, and recreational activities such as horseback riding, camping and dirtbike riding.
Cr MacRae hoped this year's campaign would attract city folk looking to move to regional areas, to come to Mount Isa.
"There has been a bit of a trend where people in cities are looking to move to regional areas, so it is important for us to get our message out there that Mount Isa is a great place to live," she said.
"If your partner is working here and you're not, maybe come and check it out - you might find that it is quite good to live here."
Cr MacRae is also expecting a large tourist season in 2021 and said Council was also marketing tourism as well.
"We think that we are going to have a big tourist season this year, because people are travelling at home and people do want to come and see the Outback, therefore we will also be marketing that and trying to take advantage of that also.
"But with the trend of people moving to the regions we would like to see our population grow, there are a lot of positions available here in Mount Isa. It is a great place to live and raise a family so we just want to get that message out."
A three-minute, documentary-style version is to come and will be used in the future for regional recruitment, livability and tourism purposes.
