On this day in 1923, the foundations for the establishment of Mount Isa were created when John Campbell Miles discovered the area was rich in lead ore and decided to set up mining leases here.
The anniversary also means the 100 year celebration is looming quickly around the corner and the Mount Isa 100 years celebration committee is seeking memorabilia for the occasion.
The Mount Isa 100 Celebration Facebook page has made a call-out.
"Have you got any photos of our past that you can share with us? We would love to showcase them," the page said.
