Mr Keirle comes to Cloncurry with leadership experience in local government in the North West, having held the CEO position at Burke Shire Council from 2014 to 2016.
Cloncurry Shire Council said that accompanying his impressive academic qualifications and employment history, Mr Keirle's fresh set of eyes over the organisation will quickly flow through to the community.
A resolution was passed at the 2 March 2021 special meeting to appoint the new CEO.
Mayor Greg Campbell said Council was excited to welcome Philip and his young family to Cloncurry.
"As our Shire continues to grow as a liveable and economic hub, I'm looking forward to Philip's leadership contributing to that," Cr Campbell said.
"I'd like to say a special thanks to Bruce Davidson, our acting CEO, who Council enticed into one final locum to help during this transitional period.
"Bruce hit the ground running when he arrived in early January and he'll always be a friend to Cloncurry".
Mr Keirle will officially take up the position on March 23, 2021.
