The NWHHS has been issued an initial 1,040 doses of the vaccine, with more than 100 jabs expected to be administered within the first week.
NWHHS acting chief executive Dr Karen Murphy said the vaccination program team had been working around the clock for several weeks to ensure the hub was ready to welcome the first round of vaccine recipients tomorrow, ahead of a broader program to encompass all 11 NWHHS locations.
"The first round of vaccines will be offered to a number of Mount Isa residents which will include front-line staff in Mount Isa such as emergency department staff, Queensland Ambulance Service staff, aged care residents and staff," Dr Murphy said.
"We want to assure all people in the North West that everyone who can be vaccinated will have the opportunity, and NWHHS will continue to keep the community informed as local roll-out plans keep progressing."
Dr Murphy said the NWHHS COVID-19 Staff Vaccination Program is part of the National COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Strategy driven by Queensland Health and will be critical in ensuring the North West remains COVID free.
"By participating in this program, you are protecting not only our patients but the people you care for most - your family, your friends and yourself," Dr Murphy said.
