The casting crew were 'in and out' of the city in November to film an episode which features two challenges held at Emu Logic, the emu farm north west of Dubbo.
"I've been to Dubbo to play footy when I was younger, but I've never really looked around, so to get out there and get into the community... I loved it, I loved it there," Mr Ryan said.
"The thing about Dubbo is it showcases the real Australia, there's a lot of places in the Central West and in the middle of the country that are just so typical outback.
"Dubbo was the place where, leading into the last few episodes, I found another gear. It kickstarted me. It was like having a coffee in the morning, you know when you have a coffee in the morning, Dubbo was like having a double long black, it got me going."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Ryan said he participated in the two challenges at the farm which consisted of egg eating and emu corralling.
"I did both challenges, the first one, you gotta corral an emu, or 10 emus. The emus are all bark no bite, they seem like they're gonna hurt you but they've got nothing to defend themselves, poor emus..." Mr Ryan said.
"We had to eat an emu egg, basically, we worked our way up from a chicken egg to an emu egg. I did it and they don't tell you how much protein is in an emu egg, it's equivalent to like five protein shakes, it's all yolk as well so that really, really levelled one team.
"The challenges at the farm really sorted out the winners from the rest, it broke one of the teams, finished them.
"I also got on a tractor, I've never driven a tractor before mind you. The teams had to drive a tractor through the crops and get the crops and shoot the wheat or barley, whatever it was, straight into the bin next to them, never done that before.
"We were darting in and out of the city the whole time.
"It's a big place, with plenty of things to do.
"When we got there there was a smile on all the farmer's faces, everyone was in good spirits there, people were positive, the town was pumping good for our show.
"I wanna take my family back to the emu farm and to the zoo. I think me saying I want to go back says a lot. "
The episode airs on Channel 10 network Sunday, March 21.
