A multi-million dollar project broke ground this month for Kent Removals and Storage, which is quadrupling its footprint in Townsville.
The new 6947 square metre site, built by local contractor Phoenix Constructions, will include office space and a massive new storage warehouse that will service customers from Rockhampton to Mount Isa.
Townsville branch manager for Kent, Jason Flynn, says the expansion in his region will create the largest removal location outside south east Queensland.
"We've chosen a location just a few kilometres from our existing site, which is ideally situated close to the rail hub," Mr Flynn said.
"The size and scale of this project, which represents a pretty large project for a private company in this area, reflects the vitality of this region."
Kent CEO Stephen Alves says the new facility has been built for growth, recognising both the potential of the region and the increasing demand for new storage solutions and their data indicates a wave of relocations across Queensland.
"Kent has invented smarter systems for making removals, relocations and storage better for customers, including large clients like government and major corporates, who have been a big part of our story in Townsville," Mr Alves said.
"We are the first company offering a new approach to containerised storage."
The new Townsville facility is scheduled to open in August.
