Council said it was restricting access to the area from Monday April 19 to Tuesday, May 11 "to enable progression of a special project".
Council did not name the project which is believed to be related to filming of Australian Outback Survivor.
There will be temporary restriction of access to the Reserve and a temporary closure of part of the Chinaman Creek Dam Road.
"Council understands the short-term inconvenience this closure may cause but is confident the community understands the short- and long-term tourism and economic benefits to the town and region that come from showcasing our region via special projects of this type," Council said.
The Dam is a popular local spot for walking, horseriding, fishing and other leisure pursuits.
