According to national data, for the last four consecutive years, the top Aussie baby names have been Charlotte (for a girl), and Oliver (for a boy).
However Mount Isa parents are turning a blind eye to what is popular nationally, creating their own trends.
Last year at North West Hospital and Health Service, several baby names proved more popular than others, with the top baby names being Thomas (for a boy) and Ruby (for a girl).
"With more than 550 babies born at the Mount Isa hospital in 2020, classic and biblical names are still a winner with many parents last year," NWHHS spokesperson said.
"Thomas being the most popular, closely followed by Michael and then Elijah. Girls names, including Elena and Kylie, made a strong appearance as well."
