The North West Star is off the air and has heard reports of outages in Mount Isa, Cloncurry and Mary Kathleen.
The North West Star has also heard reports that the Diamantina Power Station turbines have gone down and has contacted APA for comment.
Ergon Energy Outage Finder says 10,000 customers are affected across the region.
"The loss of supply is due to the operating of protective equipment," Ergon said.
