Ms Robson was chosen after an extensive search for the position previously held for 13 years by Glen Graham and has relocated from Brisbane to Mount Isa to take up this role.
Announcing the appointment, MITEZ Regional Development Officer Ross Thinee said Ms Robson had a strong background in the energy industry having been employed by Ergon Energy, initially as a project manager / change manager and then that of a stakeholder relationship manager to government groups.
"She has a particular interest in the concept of 'open innovation' and the collaboration of multi-disciplinary partners to deliver value-add solutions in alignment with organisational strategy," Mr Thinee said.
In 2008 she established the Robson Group, a boutique consultancy firm focusing on stakeholder solutions, inclusive of strategy development and implementation as well as issues management and communications.
Catherine spent a number of years in her early twenties, working in the rural industry in the Gulf of Carpentaria, doing fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which was formally recognised by the RFDS.
"Ms Robson's diversity of business experience and well established networks will ensure MITEZ continues to grow as the peak regional development body for the region," Mr Thinee said.
Ms Robson will chair the next MITEZ meeting scheduled for June 28 and 29 in Mount Isa.
She said a key focus areas will be the 'Future of Energy in North Queensland' led by Energy Thought Leader, Ian McLeod with panel participation from Copperstring, CleanCo and Neoen.
She also said Senator Susan McDonald will be at the meeting.
