The trail run through the spectacular backdrop of Porcupine Gorge National Park north of Hughenden has run for the past 20 years and the final challenge will be held on Saturday June 12.
The open category event kicks off at 9am at the base of the Pyramid. and the track covers 6.5km within the Gorge, with the final 1.5km incline track out of the gorge.
Organisers say this track will put your body to the test, as you encounter rocks, trees, sand, and water crossings.
For those more interested in having some fun, there is also a 5 km walk, and junior trail options available.
Flinders Shire Council Mayor Jane McNamara said the Challenge was a bucket list item for many people.
"Over the years, we've had many competitors join us from across Australia but due to Covid-19, we had to cancel our 2020 event," Cr McNamara said.
"However, we are planning a bigger and better event in 2021 to mark the 20th year of the Challenge".
Following the main event there will be a Challenge Dinner and Awards evening commencing from 4 pm at the Hughenden Railway Social Club. The event is open to everyone - so come along and join in for some live entertainment, amusements, and presentations for competitors.
Cr McNamara said this would be the final year running the Challenge.
"Council will be hanging up the running shoes but stay tuned for news from us for our event plans for next year," she said.
""We will be hosting an event in 2022 which is closer to town with the aim of keeping visitors in our region for longer and stimulating the local economy."
