From June 1-5 the Science Circus will be visiting schools in North West Queensland, including Mount Isa and Cloncurry.
"We are excited to hit the road and bring Questacon to Central Queensland. After last year's border closures, we feel privileged to travel again and bring our shows to school students throughout the region," Science Circus presenter Margo Brewin said.
The team will be performing interactive science based shows exploring the physics of gooey slime, the geometry of giant bubbles and blasting off with rockets with the mechanisms of flight.
"The Questacon Science Circus is not just for students, we also deliver teacher professional development workshops that support educators with resources to use in their own classrooms. We aim to show that science can be done by everyone and build teacher's confidence to incorporate hands-on science into their lessons," Ms Brewin said.
The Science Circus is presented by eight postgraduate students studying a Master of Science Communication Outreach at The Australian National University. The students' fieldwork involves touring with the Science Circus, engaging people with science and technology through visits to communities all over Australia. Applications to be part of next year's team are now open.
Since 1985, the Science Circus has inspired over 2.5 million people with interactive science shows during multiple visits to over 500 towns and communities, including 90 remote Indigenous communities.
The Questacon Science Circus is an initiative of The Australian National University and Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre.
