Cloncurry Shire Council
On May 11 Council held a special meeting to adopt the 2019-2020 Annual Report. The minutes from the May 25 meeting were not available at the time of writing. But in the agenda, the CEO's report said repairs to the Dajarra town water supply network in March and April have significantly reduced water loss which has improved the efficacy of the Dajarra water scheme to meet Australian Drinking Water Quality guidelines. Upgrades to the Dajarra Water Treatment Plant Council is one of three projects shortlisted with the Queensland Recovery and Risk Reduction Fund. The Dajarra Airport Road Sealing Project and Mobile Visual Display Boards and Lighting are the others.
Council was also set to supply of a vehicle into the Ramsay Street General Practice Agreement which expires June 30. The Agreement already provides an annual rental subsidy for the medical facility for $104,055. The cost of a RAV4 vehicle is estimated at an additional $2100 annually.
Also on the agenda was a Material Change of Use for a transport depot for the storage of freight at Lot 4 Phillips Street, Cloncurry.
There were recommendations to support the Community Grant Applications for Cloncurry Stockman's Challenge and Campdraft Association $30,000, Cloncurry Historical Society $7000, Ballara Mining Heritage Trail Committee $5000, Cloncurry Fish Stocking Group Inc $5000 Burke and Wills Sports Club $5000 Overlanders Festival of Sport $5000 and Cloncurry Touch Association Inc.$5000.
Boulia Shire Council
Council has agreed to enter into a native title agreement to consent to the determination of the Wangkamahdla People native title claim. The claim is the westernmost portion of the shire adjoining the NT border.
Burke Shire Council
In its May 12 special meeting Council approved Tim Wilson Carpentry as the Principal Contractor to carry out the STP Irrigation Design and Construct contract for $194,038, funded by a Works for Queensland 2019-21 grant. This will allow treated effluent to be safely discharged onto adjoining STP land.
Council also appointed Tim Wilson Carpentry as the Principal Contractor to carry out the Burketown WTP Building Design & Construct for $377,303. The overall budget for this project is $425,000, partially funded by Works for Queensland.
Following the departure of former CEO Clare Keenan, Council appointed Dan McKinlay as Acting CEO effective from May 13.
Carpentaria Shire Council
The CEO told the meeting Federal Government had announced a continuation of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program for Phase 3. Carpentaria Shire will receive a funding allocation of $1,423,848 for projects with construction due to be completed by June 30, 2023. This funding will be available from January 1, 2022.

Flinders Shire Council
Council approved sponsorship contribution of $5000 towards the North Queensland Sports Foundation's Overlanders Way Festival of Sports.
Council called for Expressions of Interest from Flinders Shire residents for the slashing and baling of unwanted grass on areas of unused stock routes on the northern side of Hughenden.
McKinlay Shire Council
The CEO will invite interests from the community to attend a meeting to discuss establishing aircraft hangers at the Julia Creek Airport with Council's preferred position being to offer the land for lease with lessees to develop the hangers.
Council made an agreement with William Harrington trading as Wi-Sky QLD Pty Ltd to install telecommunications equipment on the Julia Creek Water Tower to improve internet capability for rural landholders to the north of Julia Creek.
Council will proceed with the finalisation of tender documentation for the sale of the former Town and Country Club land.
They also held discussions with the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for approval to extend the deadline for expenditure of the grant to install a new dip and extension of yards at the Livestock Transit Centre pending resolution of land tenure issues and the future of the old dip which has reached its use by date.
Mornington Shire Council
Council accepted Bob Katter's invitation for Mayor Kyle Yanner and Cr Bob Thompson to attend parliament during a House of Representatives sitting week, to meet with Minister Ken Wyatt to discuss the delivery of the Market Gardens.
Richmond Shire Council

Winton Shire Council
Council approved a request from the Griffith Film School for in-kind support towards student programs delivered during the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival worth $50,000.
Council awarded the design of the Winton Youth and Disaster Recovery Centre to CP Architects Pty Ltd for $63,590.
Council drew the winner of the "rates payment incentive scheme" with a cash prize of $1000 awarded to Gerald Elliott.
Council had to look for other options to source gravel for the Winton - Richmond Road project due to the contracted company not honouring the contract. Council awarded the remainder of the Supply & Delivery of Gravel - Richmond Road to Gromac Quarries for the quoted amount of $34.27/t.
Council also increased the contribution towards the printing of the Winton Herald to $5500 for the 2021 - 2022 year.
