A Mount Isa man has been charged with attempting to steal fuel in the city.
At about 11.30pm on Tuesday, June 8, police were patrolling Isa Street when they observed three people standing next to a fuel bowser at the service station.
Further, they observed a fuel nozzle detached from the holder and laying on the ground, along with a plastic bottle containing a small amount of petrol in it.
When the police officers exited their vehicle, the three people fled.
Police gave chase and directed one man to stop. Police will allege the man refused to comply and continued to actively avoid arrest. He was apprehended after a short chase.
An 18-year-old Mornington man has been charged with attempted stealing, possess utensils that had been used, obstruct police officer and breach of bail.
He was denied bail and is remanded in custody to appear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on June 21.
Investigations are continuing into the other two alleged offenders.
