Back in April Empowering Women Empowering Communities (EWEC) and Doomadgee Strong Women's Group put out a call for help to uplift the spirits of Doomadgee, a remote and severely disadvantaged Aboriginal community.
EWEC asked for support to help host the Doomadgee under the Stars NAIDOC Ball.
So far over 375kgs of formal wear has been shipped up to Doomadgee, with more going there every day, thanks to the generosity of Toll Ipec and Rex Airlines.
You can also show some love to the community of Doomadgee by donating to their GoFundMe. EWEC said that in a place so remote, an event such as a ball, has the opportunity to empower young women, and the whole community.
"We can't wait to see how this event unfolds for the community of Doomadgee," EWEC said.
The Doomadgee NAIDOC Committee is hosting a Ball on July 8 along the picturesque Nicolson River, under the stars, perhaps with the odd freshwater crocodile slowly drifting by.
